Somehow I find myself on the verge of the third trimester.
Twenty-seven weeks of pregnancy have sped by so fast.
The final thirteen will speed even faster.
And so I prepare.
(Some call it nesting.)
And in preparing, I read.
My mother gifted me with
Marla Taviano's book Expecting
as soon as we told her that Little One was forming.
It has been so grounding to me,
reading a few pages each week,
tracking Little One's development,
and letting words of blessing flow over us.
Each week there is a space for me to write something.
I haven't been faithful to fill it in, but even so,
I will have written more with the book
than I would have without it.
I go back and fill in the gaps when I can,
and practice giving grace.
(God knows I'll need plenty in the coming months.)
I picked up another book this month:
the life-changing magic of tidying up by Marie Kondo
A book I started reading in the store,
fell in love with,
began to apply before finishing,
and set aside when life became overwhelming.
I picked it up again because I knew
that as nesting sets in
this book contains the outline
that will help me succeed.
Reading the first half had already told me that much —
Marie's method resonated so deeply with me!
— and I knew that in order to "make it stick"
I would need to read it all to apply it thoroughly.
I must admit, I haven't been able to wait
and have begun to dabble in my tidying endavors,
but I'm holding off really beginning until I finish reading.
